The Mobile Gravimeter

The L2G of the École Supérieure des Géomètres et Topographes (ESGT / CNAM) and the LAREG team, in collaboration with the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department of the French Navy, have developed a system of mobile gravimetry (boarding a gravimeter on board an object in motion) that can be adapted to different vehicles.

The measurement system currently includes three accelerometers with a sensitivity of 1 micron per second squared to measure the total acceleration vector, a 24-bit scanner, a GPS time receiver, a GPS single-frequency receiver with 4 antennae to determine position and attitude and a microcomputer. Work on the modeling of mobile gravity measurements are underway in the LAREG team.
